China-Egypt Cooperation in New Energy Field in the Context of Carbon Neutrality Goal

Abstract In the context of the global carbon neutrality goal, both China and Egypt have set targets for carbon emission reduction and are actively promoting the development of the new energy sector. In recent years, China’s new energy industry has witnessed remarkable growth and has entered the global market thanks to its advantages in production capacity and technology. Meanwhile, Egypt’s new energy sector has also demonstrated substantial growth potential, driven by its abundant resources and supportive policies. Based on the practical cooperation between China and Egypt in the field of new energy, this paper provides an in-depth analysis of the multifaceted foundations of their collaboration from the perspectives of energy strategy, transition goals, industrial structure, and development advantages. It highlights the vast cooperation opportunities between the two countries, particularly in hydrogen energy and new energy vehicles. Furthermore, this paper examines the challenges facing China-Egypt new energy cooperation from a geopolitical perspective, arguing that both countries need to appropriately address challenges arising from the global energy crisis, geopolitical tensions, and international competition, and work together to promote the global energy transition.
