Šedesát let od první kodifikace pracovního práva na území tehdejšího Československa – retrospektivy a perspektivy

In 1965, the first Labour Code for the territory of the former Czechoslovakia was adopted. At a conference held in 2025 (on this anniversary), with the participation of leading experts in labour law from both successor states (Czech Republic and Slovakia), this introductory paper was presented, which briefly maps the development of labour law over the past 60 years. During this time, labour law in both countries has evolved from a labour code adopted during the social order with significant deficit of democracy (1965), through the adaptation of the Labour Code to incorporate the development of democracy and the need to regulate labour relations under free enterprise (in the period after the so-called Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia in 1989), to its current form, where labour law in all industrialized countries is under pressure from the growing influence of large corporations and their representatives on the formation and application of (not only) labour law.
