Cesta v obci místa výkonu práce prizmatem kodifikace pracovního práva

The aim of the paper is to show the peripeties of codification of the concept of (business) travel in connection with the performance of work in the municipality of the workplace and the legislative and technical problems associated with this process. The regulation issued on the basis of the first Czechoslovak Labour Code was more practical for employers at the time of adoption and would be more practical for medium and large employers today. According to the regulations of the 1960s and subsequently also according to Decree No 33/1984 Sb. on travel allowances, if an area wider than one municipality was agreed as a place of work, all organisational units in the municipality of the employer’s registered office were regular workplaces, unless the employer had designated a specific organisational unit(s) as a regular workplace. The current regulation in the 2006 Labour Code is more liberal and supports contractual autonomy, but this can easily become a nightmare for employers who change their workplace or headquarters when organising work for hundreds of employees.
