Novel RISE-Based Fault-Tolerant Control for Air-Breathing Hypersonic Vehicle with Actuator Fault and Unmatched Disturbance

This paper addresses the design of a fault-tolerant control strategy for the attitude system of air-breathing hypersonic vehicles (AHVs) subjected to actuator faults and unmatched disturbances, aiming to enhance the performance of the conventional robust integral of the sign of the error (RISE) control. First, a novel model description mechanism is introduced to reformulate the system dynamics into a strict feedback form, where unmodeled dynamics are consolidated into a lumped term. Subsequently, a modified high-order sliding mode observer (HOSMO) is developed to accurately estimate these lumped disturbances. Based on the estimated information, a novel RISE-based fault-tolerant control strategy is proposed to ensure robust tracking performance of the overall system while effectively attenuating chattering effects under both faulty and fault-free conditions. Furthermore, the stability and convergence properties of the closed-loop system are rigorously analyzed and proven. Finally, extensive comparative simulations are conducted to validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control scheme.
