A Study on the Development of Haircut and Pet Convergence Beauty Curriculum Based on One Health
This study explores the necessity and direction for a One Health-based convergence curriculum integrating human and companion animal(grooming) beauty education. Recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, we identified shared core competencies-such as skin/coat management, hygiene, and safety-across both fields. Our analysis of existing barbering and pet grooming certifications highlighted differences but confirmed essential similarities in core competencies, underscoring the potential for synergistic convergence education. We propose a curriculum model based on One Health integration, common core competency strengthening, practical convergence training, and certification linkage. This model includes foundational theory, professional and integrated practice, welfare and public health modules, and comprehensive assessment, emphasizing hands-on, scenario-based learning with multidisciplinary instructors. This research offers a practical framework to develop convergence-oriented beauty professionals who can holistically manage health, welfare, and hygiene for both humans and animals, addressing future societal demands for creative and responsible experts.
