PZT‐PMS‐PIN high‐power piezoelectric ceramics exhibiting elevated vibration velocities under low electric fields

Abstract High‐power piezoelectric ceramics typically require sustained vibration under strong AC electric fields. Therefore, multiple parameters such as piezoelectric coefficient d 33 , mechanical quality factor Q m , and Curie temperature T c should be optimized concurrently to enhance their vibrational speed and durability. Here (0.95‐ x )Pb(Zr 0.48 Ti 0.52 )O 3 ‐0.05 Pb(Mn 1/3 Sb 2/3 )O 3 ‐ x Pb(In 1/2 Nb 1/2 )O 3 ceramics were developed. As the value of x increased from 0 to 0.06, the piezoelectric coefficient d 33 improved from 275 pC/N to 440 pC/N, the electromechanical coupling coefficient k p increased from 0.53 to 0.64. Conversely, the quasi‐static Q m decreased from 2397 to 1754 and the T c shifted from 326°C and 317°C. The ceramic with an optimal composition at x = 0.06 demonstrated well‐coordinated high values for d 33 , Q m , k p , and T c values. Under an AC electric field of 25 V/mm, it exhibited a high‐filed Q m of 1226, an impressive vibration speed v 0 of 0.99 m/s at 25°C and 0.89 m/s at 120°C. These results indicate excellent vibration durability and temperature stability. This advancement could significantly contribute to the development of high‐performance ultrasonic motors, sonar systems, among other applications.
