Green thermocatalytic ammonia synthesis assisted by catalytic hydrogen transfer reactions from alcohols

This preliminary work opens a possible innovative route to investigating a paradigm shift in ammonia synthesis. It involves a hydrogen donor molecule (HDM) to favor ammonia synthesis at low pressure and temperature (1 bar, <i>T</i> < 200 °C), subsequently reducing the environmental footprint of NH3 synthesis.

Abstract

This preliminary work opens a possible innovative route to investigating a paradigm shift in ammonia synthesis. It involves a hydrogen donor molecule (HDM) to favor ammonia synthesis at low pressure and temperature (1 bar, <i>T</i> < 200 °C), subsequently reducing the environmental footprint of NH3 synthesis.
