Conversion Analysis as a Technique for Explicating Information

The article is devoted to an urgent problem of modern linguistics and focuses on the development of methods for text interpretation and implicit information extraction. One of the language models that requires explication is the conversion model: the text names the action of Subject 1, which is in a subject-object relationship with the action of Subject 2, information about which needs to be extracted. To solve the stated problem, the theory of conversions was used, some aspects of which, in turn, were subject to specifying. Conversions are viewed within lexical-and-semantic perspective as lexemes that nominate two aspects of the same process, they presuppose and predetermine each other. It is necessary to distinguish between linguistic and contextual conversions, because conversions as lexical antonyms are not identical to conversion as a contextual phenomenon. The constituents of a conversion pair can be asymmetrical in terms of the predetermination of the second component and have a non- identical number of meanings, as only in one of them does the word appear in an interdependent paired relationship. The described features of conversions are considered in the proposed methodology, aimed at solving the problem of information explication from the statement, taking into account the differentiation of its possible and obligatory components. The proposed methodology can become a practical guide to linguistic analysis on the explication of meanings from a statement, in particular in a situation of conflicting interpretations, for the purposes of expert synonymous paraphrasing.
