Lost in Digital Transformation: Finding the Golden Thread. Two Approaches Empowering Resource-Constrained Organizations

Digital transformation in resource-constrained organizational contexts presents distinct challenges to the development and acceptance of human-centered technologies. This paper introduces two independent methodological approaches for identifying and integrating socio-technical requirements in such environments: (1) a structured, self-directed approach emphasizing human- and organization-centered design, and (2) a context-sensitive, knowledge-transfer based workshop approach focused on participatory system development. These approaches were validated in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and are intended to be scalable to other structurally disadvantaged domains. Both contribute to fostering digital diversity by facilitating inclusive, adaptable technology development processes in heterogeneous environments.
