AML-266: Correlation Between Whole-Body MRI With MRD Results in Six Adult Patients With Acute Leukemia

Whole-body MRI is a very sensitive radiology tool for detection of bone marrow infiltration. Minimal residual disease (MRD) detection methods in acute leukemia still have many limitations. Whole-body MRI assessment can be evaluated as an MRD assessment method. The study included six acute leukemia patients. All patients were evaluated after finishing consolidation chemotherapy with multiparameter flow cytometry (MFC) as an MRD detection method and underwent whole-body MRI evaluation. All six cases showed bone marrow infiltration with different grades post consolidation and after confirming negative MRD with MFC. Four cases relapsed within the 3-year follow-up period. The two cases with acute promyelocytic leukemia subtype were in complete remission throughout the 3 years of follow-up. Whole-body MRI evaluation post consolidation and correlation with bone marrow and MRD results is recommended for the possibility of involving it in MRD evaluation based on its very high sensitivity in detecting bone marrow infiltration.

Abstract

Whole-body MRI is a very sensitive radiology tool for detection of bone marrow infiltration. Minimal residual disease (MRD) detection methods in acute leukemia still have many limitations. Whole-body MRI assessment can be evaluated as an MRD assessment method. The study included six acute leukemia patients.
