Adherencia terapéutica y calidad de vida en pacientes hipertensos que acuden a un hospital de la ciudad de Juliaca
Objective: This study aimed to establish the relationship between therapeutic adherence and quality of life in hypertensive patients attending a hospital in the city of Juliaca. Methodology: A quantitative, correlational, and cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 150 patients diagnosed with essential arterial hypertension, selected through non-probability sampling. Data were collected using the Martín-Bayarre-Grau (MBG) questionnaire and the Minichal scale. The analysis was carried out using descriptive and inferential statistics, with Spearman’s Rho test. Results: Among the participants, 64.7% were women. Regarding education, 30% had completed secondary school, 26.3% had incomplete primary education, and 9.3% had no basic education. Additionally, 71.3% reported a monthly income of less than 500 soles. It was found that 76% of participants had partial therapeutic adherence and 52% reported a poor quality of life. A significant correlation was found between therapeutic adherence and quality of life (p = 0.003). Conclusion: The results reveal a trend toward higher therapeutic adherence, although accompanied by a lower perceived quality of life. This finding highlights the need to promote strategies that strengthen adherence as a means to improve hypertension control. Further research is recommended to explore the relationship between adherence and quality of life in order to implement more effective interventions for hypertensive patients.
