Contribution to the Characterization of Building Blocks Used in High Temperature Experiments
Objective: Comparatively present the results of tests under high temperatures of components and structural elements applied in constructions in Pernambuco. Theoretical Framework: Definitions on the composition of buildings, topics on fire safety, as well as topics on mechanical resistance of materials, standard fire curves, among others, are presented. Method: The methodology was based on a bibliographic review of 05 recent research the behavior of structures subjected to high temperatures. The comparative technique was used to analyze experimental programs, thermal and mechanical results, highlighting similarities and differences. Results and Discussion: It was observed that all researchs performed thermal and mechanical tests under the guidance of Brazilian Standards. From the point of view of the comparison regarding the characterization of elements, it is worth noting that factors such as the origin of the manufacturing (different brickyards, different batches) and the type of mortar used for the capping are factors that may have influenced the results of these. As for the results of thermomechanical tests and rupture conditions, it was found that the sudden cooling generated more mechanical fragility in the test specimens than found in the other forms. Research Implications: The perceived implications involve the discussion about the need to understand the behavior of construction elements used in Pernambuco under high temperatures, since they are not clearly homogeneous. Originality/Value: This study is valued for highlighting the work developed within the State of Pernambuco, understanding UFPE as a production center for responses to the understanding of structural phenomena under the action of high temperatures, which implies an agent that brings contextualized modifications and advances.
