A rare case report of synchronous renal cell carcinoma and penile carcinoma
Abstract Multiple primary cancers is a term used to define two distinct cancers arising from two distinct organs in a single individual. Synchronous cancers are two cancers discovered within 6 months of each other. Here, we report an extremely rare case of synchronous renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and carcinoma penis in a 48-year-old male. A 48-year-old male patient presented with ulceroproliferative growth over the penis for the last 4 months along with intermittent hematuria for the last 2 months. A computed tomography scan kidney urinary bladder region revealed a well-defined lesion of size 56 mm × 60 mm in mid pole of the left kidney. The patient underwent total penectomy with a perineal urethrostomy and laparoscopic left radical nephrectomy. Histopathologic examination (HPE) of resected specimens of the penis revealed well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma (T3NxMx). HPE of the resected specimen of left kidney revealed papillary RCC; (T3NxMx). The patient was planned for bilateral superficial and deep inguinal lymph node dissection and subsequent chemoradiotherapy.
