A HISTORICAL STUDY OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HISTORY AND THE EMERGENCE OF THE HUMAN SCIENCES
The problem of research in the humanities seemed, at first glance, very old, due to the ages of ancient sciences that focused on human beings and the diverse knowledge surrounding them. However, actual and precise scientific interest in studying human beings as a phenomenon and subject of research grew, particularly after the success of experimental sciences in applying their methods to all subjects and knowledge, such as physics, chemistry, and biology. This relatively successful experience was transferred to the world of human phenomena by some researchers in the human and social sciences, such as Auguste Comte, who attempted to develop a scientific method for studying the development of societies through his interest in human culture, behavior, and the stages of human development. In practical terms, this step can be considered the beginning of establishing sciences that care about humanity. The Renaissance resulted in an intellectual revolution from which two parallel lines branched out, moving in one direction. One of them concerned itself with humanity and its truth, and with understanding it, while the other focused on the Christian religion and aimed to restore it to its origins without distortion. The humanities contribute to expanding the scope of history through the tools and concepts used in their analysis.By studying human psychology and social and cultural factors, humanists can understand the motivations of individuals and groups and their influence on historical events.Collaboration between history and the humanities contributes to enriching knowledge and expanding our understanding of humanity.
