Arthritis Robustus: Abnormal Rheumatoid in an Elderly Male with Lower Back Pain
Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systematic autoimmune condition with protean manifestation. It is a symmetric, inflammatory, peripheral polyarthritis of unknown etiology typically leading to joint destruction through the erosion of cartilage and bone, with the most common presenting complaints being pain, stiffness and small joint involvement. However, arthritis robustus, a rare RA subtype, often shows minimal clinical symptoms despite apparent signs of inflammation.
