Progressão da independência funcional em pacientes amputados atendidos em um centro especializado em reabilitação

Objective: To evaluate the progression of functional independence in amputee patients treated at a specialized rehabilitation center. Method: This is a cross-sectional analytical observational study involving amputee patients treated at a Rehabilitation Center, measuring their progression during rehabilitation and functional independence using the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). Data collection was carried out from patient records between January 2019 and December 2022. The comparison between FIM scale results before and after treatment was performed using the Wilcoxon T-test. Results: The study included 65 patients, the majority of whom were men. Diabetes Mellitus was the main cause of amputation among them, followed by traumatic accidents. The FIM scores significantly improved after rehabilitation (p<0.001), with 98% of patients achieving complete or modified independence. Conclusion: Rehabilitation improved the functional independence of amputee patients. The multidisciplinary approach increased autonomy and quality of life.
