Up-Going Data Improvements through the Attenuation of Converted PS Waves

Summary Multi-component data acquired using ocean-bottom seismic (OBS) technology records both PP and converted PS waves. The final quality of the PP imaging is generally superior with respect to conventional streamer data, but despite the application of bespoken processing workflows PP data may still be affected by the presence of residual PS events. This paper focuses on the workflow applied to the compressional data to overcome the challenges associated by the presence of converted shear waves.
