Characterising Remaining Potential of the Eastern Flank of the Ghaba Salt Basin, Oman, using Play Analysis
Summary This study provides an evaluation of the remaining undiscovered hydrocarbon resource of the eastern flank of there Ghaba Salt Basin onshore Oman, based on an integrated approach of detailed post well evaluations, common risk segment mapping, seismic interpretation, prospect evaluation and a yet-to-find analysis. The stratigraphy includes 23 plays of which 18 are proven. The future resource potential is evaluated for both identified prospectivity and also an estimate of the as yet unidentified prospectivity to provide a holistic overview of the full future potential. The study includes not just a volumetric assessment but also includes economic inputs to provide an EMV value of that future resource. The results can be aggregated back to any polygons such as license blocks. Furthermore the EMV value is calculated at every oil price between US$20 and US$200. This allows the future value to be estimated at any oil price and helps with strategic decision making such as which areas remain more resilient to a low oil price scenario. This disciplined play fairway analysis approach efficiently integrates data in one environment and assists companies in making better and faster decisions with a full audit trail.
