WORDS DESCRIBING JAPANESE CULTURE AND MENTALITY INRUSSIAN-LANGUAGE UGC

The purpose of the study is to analyze Russian-language UGC (user-generated content) in terms of identifying lexical units describing the culture and mentality of the Japanese. This content is usually aimed at a target audience interested in Japanese culture or Japan in general. The material for this study is blogs, comments, and private pages of Internet users. The object of the study was Japanese words and phrases conceptually related to the culture and mentality of the Japanese: hanami, omotenashi, ichigai, komorebi, ichigo ichie. Such lexical units are difficult to understand and translate and at the same time are inextricably linked with the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the nation. The method of this study is the method of continuous sampling, in which the analysis was carried out on the entire array of texts offered in the Internet space containing the studied lexical units. As conclusions, we note that in the materials under study, words are presented in user-generated content in the following areas: presentation and explanation of a word, personal perception of a phenomenon, reasoning on the topic of being, perception of nature, interpersonal relationships, and were also used for marketing purposes.
