Tendencias en la enseñanza-aprendizaje de los métodos numéricos. Revisión sistemática 2014-2023
Numerical Methods courses are a must in engineering. However, it is common for students to face difficulties in learning them. To identify trends in the teaching-learning of numerical methods, a systematic review was conducted in Web of Science (WOS), Scopus and Semantic Scholar indexes over the last decade (2014 to 2023). The search was conducted in January and February 2024. Studies on teaching or learning numerical methods were considered as inclusion criteria. Studies referring to the use of numerical methods for teaching other subjects or for solving different problems and those that did not pertain to higher education were excluded. Eighty-five studies were included. The results were categorized into: a) pedagogical strategies, b) computational tools used and c) consideration of attitudes and motivation. It is recognized that the dominant pedagogical strategies are centered on active learning. It was identified that computational tools are used as: learning platform, means to perform calculations and to experiment, instrument to develop skills, or as teaching strategies. The main difficulty was the heterogeneity of proposals. It was possible to identify a gap in teacher training and in the use of didactic theories of mathematics in the teaching-learning of Numerical Methods.
