THE EFFECT OF GH, CAST GENE POLYMORPHISM ON THE MEAT QUALITY OF HEREFORD CATTLE
The development of methods to improve the quantitative and qualitative indicators of meat productivity of Hereford cattle should be based on a comprehensive analysis of the genetic, physiological and biochemical parameters of the body. The Hereford breed is of particular value in Russia, as it is one of the three most common breeds, and the production of high-quality beef largely depends on its improvement. Thanks to the methods of molecular genetics, it is possible to carry out animal genotyping using molecular markers and select the best productivity in the early stages of life. In this regard, the use of molecular genetic methods to assess the prediction of productive performance of animals will accelerate the accumulation of genes carrying desirable traits, and the systematic selection of animals carrying genetic markers will increase the frequency of highly productive animals in future generations. The aim of the study was a comparative biological and technological assessment of the productivity of Hereford cattle, as well as the rational use of inbreed genetic resources to improve the selection of animals based on meat productivity and marker breeding. Based on the results of a molecular genetic study, the presence and frequency of alleles and genotypes were determined by the GH, CAST genes. Experimental studies were conducted on the basis of the laboratory of molecular genetic examination of the Federal State budgetary educational institution of higher education "Donskoy State Agrarian University". The analysis was carried out by the PCR-RDF method, the material for the study was tissue samples from the auricle of Hereford cattle. According to the conducted studies, the desired genotype for meat indicators was established in animals. Studies have shown that the meat quality of Hereford cattle depends on the genetic characteristics of the breed.
