Performance analysis of cognitive radio NOMA wireless communication systems
The rapid expansion of wireless communication necessitates innovative strategies to enhance spectrum efficiency. This paper explores two key technologies: Cognitive Radio (CR) and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA), which address the pressing need for improved spectrum utilisation. CR enables unlicensed users to access spectrum dynamically, mitigating scarcity, while NOMA allows multiple users to share the same frequency resources, thereby boosting spectral efficiency. The integration of CR and NOMA (CR-NOMA) systems holds promise for maximising spectrum efficiency and accommodating the growing number of connected devices. We present a thorough performance analysis of CR-NOMA systems, focusing on critical metrics such as outage probability, achievable data rates and overall spectral efficiency. The study includes a detailed system model, analytical derivations for key performance indicators, and validation through extensive simulations. Our findings offer valuable insights for optimising system design and operation, contributing to the practical implementation of CR-NOMA technologies. This research aims to inform the development of next-generation wireless networks capable of efficiently supporting diverse applications and services, particularly in environments with stringent spectrum demands and varying Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements.
