Reducing torsional oscillations of screw compressor rotor based on optimizing parameters of multiple dynamic vibration absorber

The rotors of the screw compressor, referred to as male and female, are affected by adverse torsional oscillation due to the constant pressure fluctuations within the compressor. A method for reducing screw rotor oscillation in compressors is a necessary requirement for engineers and researchers. Therefore, a mathematical model is proposed for reducing the torsional oscillation of the screw rotor. The torsional oscillation equation of the screw rotor with the multidynamic vibration absorber (MDVA) is built to simulate the torsional oscillation of the system. The screw rotor with MDVA, known as a damped system, is transformed into the approximately undamped system based on the weighted dual criteria of the equivalent linearization technique. Based on the approximately undamped system, the mathematical form of MDVA parameters is defined by minimizing the amplitude function (AF) of the screw rotor with MDVA. In the numerical example, the AF of the screw rotor with optimal MDVA is significantly reduced by at least 91.26% compared with the screw rotor without MDVA, and this reduction is greater than that achieved by at least 1.05% compared with the previous method, the least square estimate. The effect of the MDVA parameters, including position ratio, mass ratio, and the torsional viscous damping parameter, is investigated. The sensitivity of the optimal parameters of the MDVA system is analyzed.
