ANÁLISE BIOECONÔMICA DE UM SISTEMA DE CRIA DE BOVINOS DE CORTE NA REGIÃO DA ZONA DA MATA MINEIRA

The beef cattle breeding system stands out as the most crucial, as it represents the starting point for meat production. Therefore, the objective of the research is to analyze the zootechnical and economic aspects of a beef cattle breeding system on a farm located in the Zona da Mata Mineira region in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The zootechnical data were live weight of weaned calves, number of weaned calves, number of females for reproduction, stocking rate and to evaluate calf production. The economic data were Effective Operating Cost (COE), Total Operating Cost (COT), Total Cost (CT) and profit. The analysis period included CICLO 1 (September 2021 to August 2022) and CICLO 2 (September 2022 to August 2023). It was possible to observe an increase in the weight of weaned calves of around 10%. Regarding the weaning period, in CICLO 1, there were five weaning moments and in CICLO 2 there were four moments, due to the establishment of a breeding season. It was possible to identify a profit of R$ 365,860.11 in CICLO 1 and R$ 338,091.47 in CICLO 2, that is, there was a reduction of approximately 7.59%, which coincided with the unfavorable livestock cycle for the commercialization of calves. It is concluded that through the implementation and correct use of input and process technologies it is possible to have better production efficiency in the breeding system even in unfavorable times for livestock farming.
