Pheochromocytoma presenting as suspected peripartum cardiomyopathy with ventricular tachyarrhythmias
Determination of the etiology of recurrent ventricular arrhythmias (VA) such as ventricular fibrillation (VF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT) can be challenging, particularly in patients with nonischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM). Mechanisms of ventricular arrhythmias (VA) include enhanced automaticity, triggered activity from early or late afterdepolarizations, and reentry often related to myocardial scarring.1 . The 2022 ACC/AHA/HFSA Guideline for the Management of Heart Failure list over a dozen categories of causes of NICM, many of which do not have highly-specific confirmatory testing.
