wl-2046- An Unserious, Unimplementable, and Unconstitutional Law
The Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill, 2024 passed by the Karnataka legislative assembly ostensibly attempts to reform governance for India’s largest and fastest growing cities. However, it is a non-serious piece of legislation that is simply unworkable and potentially violates the provisions of the 74th amendment to the Constitution. It tightens the grip of the state government over the city with no consequent benefits to the citizen.
