Energy from Motion: Evaluating the Viability of Piezoelectric Roads in India
The integration of piezoelectric technology into the road infrastructure presents a transformative opportunity for energy generation in India. By converting mechanical stress from vehicular movement into electrical energy, these roads could contribute significantly to the nation’s energy needs while reducing carbon emissions. The potential benefits and challenges associated with the deployment of piezoelectric roads are explored, emphasizing their role in sustainable energy harvesting. The analysis covers a comprehensive review of technical specifications, environmental implications, and economic considerations, along with the social acceptance of such innovations. In addition, it deals with special challenges that arise due to the diverse climate and varying road conditions in India.
