An Automated System for Path Navigation Using Canny Algorithm on FPGA

Recent advancements in autonomous systems have the potential to significantly improve the lives of humans, particularly those with multi-sensory impairments, such as visually challenged individuals. Contributing to this cause is a valuable effort, and this work introduces an automated robotic system designed to detect obstacles and provide guidance through the use of the Canny edge detection technique. The system will capture the edges of obstacles and offer an appropriate navigation path for the user receiving the guidance. This algorithm will be evaluated on a Xilinx FPGA board to test its effectiveness in real-world scenarios.

Abstract

Recent advancements in autonomous systems have the potential to significantly improve the lives of humans, particularly those with multi-sensory impairments, such as visually challenged individuals. Contributing to this cause is a valuable effort, and this work introduces an automated robotic system designed to detect obstacles and provide guidance through the use of the Canny edge detection technique. The system will capture the edges of obstacles and offer an appropriate navigation path for the user receiving the guidance. This algorithm will be evaluated on a Xilinx FPGA board to test its effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
