Abstract

In an era where IP-based networks and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software are prevalent in manufacturing and process industries, the threat of cyberattacks is on the rise. This article underscores the criticality of this issue and advocates for a proactive approach to cybersecurity, where industry best practices are integrated into every new and existing system. <p xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Cybersecurity incidents present an increased risk to business, manufacturing processes, and safety.
