A tower localization method for power transmission lines based on phase analysis in DAS

The structural integrity of transmission lines is critical to the stable operation of power systems. To achieve accurate identification of tower locations, this paper proposes a phase analysis method based on a distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) system. By constructing a two-dimensional phase map with fiber distance and time axes, the precise positioning of transmission towers is realized. In an outdoor experimental setup involving five transmission towers, Rayleigh backscattered phase signals distributed along the optical cable were collected using a DAS system. After detrending processing, a clear spatiotemporal phase distribution map was obtained. By analyzing the regions where phase signals are spatially concentrated, the actual positions of towers can be identified. Experimental results validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method, offering a novel technical approach for the online monitoring and intelligent maintenance of transmission line structures.
