Idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis in a young female: A diagnostic challenge
Idiopathic Pulmonary Hemosiderosis (IPH) is a rare condition characterized by recurrent episodes of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage. We present a case of a 20-year-old female patient who presented with cough, mild hemoptysis, and iron deficiency anemia.Diagnostic tests, including CT chest and bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) and transbronchial lung biopsy, revealed hemosiderin-laden macrophages.Secondary causes were ruled out, and the patient was diagnosed with IPH.Treatment with oral prednisolone led to significant improvement in symptoms.
