EPM Model Integration Using OData Services

This research paper presents a comprehensive analysis of integrating Enterprise Project Management (EPM) models with SAP systems through OData services implementation utilizing Service Gateway Builder (SEGW) in the SAP backend environment. The study explores how EPM models are exposed as OData services, facilitating seamless data interaction from diverse external applications including SAP Fiori interfaces, JavaScript-based dashboards, mobile applications, and web portals. The investigation demonstrates how OData's REST-based protocol architecture leverages standard HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE) for communication, thereby simplifying development processes and ensuring robust platform independence. The research reveals that this integration approach significantly reduces manual operational overhead while enhancing decisionmaking capabilities through live project insights delivered via intuitive user interfaces. The findings indicate substantial improvements in data accessibility, cross-platform compatibility, system interoperability, and overall project management efficiency across heterogeneous application ecosystems.
