RESEARCH ON THE CONTINUOUS CASTING PROCESS OF CUNI2SI RODS INTENDED FOR THE MANUFACTURING OF RAILWAY OVERHEAD CONTACT LINE EQUIPMENT
The study presents the results of research on the influence of macrostructural variations in CuNi2Si (CW111C) alloy rods on their mechanical and electrical properties, as well as changes in the characteristics of billets obtained by horizontal continuous casting. The aim of the work was to assess whether differences in casting geometry and the resulting variations in cooling conditions affect the uniformity of the material's functional properties, both in the as-cast state and after heat treatment.Samples with diameters of 14 mm and 25 mm were subjected to chemical composition analysis, hardness testing (Vickers and Brinell methods), electrical conductivity measurements, and macrostructural examination.Despite the observed differences in macrocrystalline structure, no significant influence of rod diameter on hardness or electrical conductivity was found.Following artificial aging, a considerable increase in both mechanical and electrical parameters was recorded (hardness increased by up to 94% and conductivity Research on the Continuous Casting Process of Cuni2si Rods Intended for the Manufacturing of Railway Overhead Contact Line Equipment https://iaeme.com/Home/journal/IJMET 66
