THE EFFECT OF PEER EDUCATION ON THE KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS OF ADOLESCENT GIRLS ABOUT ANEMIA AND BLOOD SUPPLEMENT TABLETS IN REDUCING THE INCIDENCE OF ANEMIA IN SIBANG VILLAGE, BADUNG REGENCY

Anemia is a condition of decreased erythrocyte mass which is characterized by low hemoglobin levels, and causes symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Adolescent girls are a group that is prone to anemia, especially iron deficiency anemia. Although the coverage of Blood Supplementation Tablets (TTD) increased, the incidence of anemia did not show a significant decrease. This is due to the low knowledge of young women about the benefits of TTD and the side effects it causes. Therefore, educational strategies such as peer education are needed to improve TTD knowledge, attitudes, and consumption behaviors. This study aims to determine the influence of peer education on the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of adolescent girls regarding anemia and TTD in an effort to reduce the incidence of anemia in Sibang Village, Badung Regency. The study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 60 respondents were involved, consisting of 15 peer education facilitators who each provided education to 3 peers. Assessments of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors were carried out before and after the intervention using questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential tests. The results of the research are expected to be the basis for the development of anemia management programs in adolescent girls through a peer education approach
