Synthesis of a Macromolecular RAFT Agent Based on an Aromatic Polyamide

An aromatic polyamide with terminal amino groups was synthesized by the polycondensation of terephthaloyl chloride with excess 9,9-bis(4-aminophenyl)fluorene. Its modification yielded a macromolecular bifunctional reversible addition–fragmentation chain-transfer (RAFT) agent capable of participating in the controlled polymerization for the formation of symmetrical B–A–B block copolymers.

Abstract

An aromatic polyamide with terminal amino groups was synthesized by the polycondensation of terephthaloyl chloride with excess 9,9-bis(4-aminophenyl)fluorene. Its modification yielded a macromolecular bifunctional reversible addition–fragmentation chain-transfer (RAFT) agent capable of participating in the controlled polymerization for the formation of symmetrical B–A–B block copolymers.
