Monthly Eye Shots
My doctor says the bubble, bobbing like a bead of mercury, like an escaped pinball rushingpast flippers, is normal. He says I should expect this.Like pain, the bubble vanishesin a few days after it's jiggledand spun like a maze marblebouncing to my rhythm. I'mnow beyond smear and blur.My doctor says my lossof straight edges is my brainstretching, sometimes decidingto leave a blank, like the invisibledeer I pass or a third of the fern.He says not to panic when mybrain replaces strange imageswith what was once thereeven if it's a deconstructedPicasso. My own surreal circus. Some nights I think I hear stars clickas I see them with my needle of truth.
