OVERTOURISM: PERSEPECTIVES FROM DOMESTIC TOURISTS IN BALI

Tourist visits have increased once again following the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the entire world. This surge in tourist arrivals has led to overcrowding at tourist destinations, with a total of 3.9 million international tourists visiting Bali for vacation, in addition to domestic tourists and the local community. This phenomenon has triggered the issue of overtourism, which has emerged in several popular tourist destinations worldwide. One of the main problems resulting from this situation is the discomfort experienced by both tourists and local residents, particularly during the peak travel season at the end of the year. In this study, PLS 4 was utilized as a data processing tool involving 140 domestic tourist respondents. The findings reveal that perceived risk and social media do not significantly influence the revisit intention of domestic tourists. This study emphasizes the importance of a positive destination image in enhancing tourist satisfaction, which in turn fosters the intention to revisit the destination in the future.
