Identifikasi Genus Nyamuk Dewasa di Kelurahan Madidir Unet Kota Bitung

Abstract: Mosquitoes are primary vectors of several serious diseases, such as malaria, dengue fever, and filariasis, which pose significant public health risks, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct mosquito genus identification in endemic areas, such as Madidir Unet in Bitung City, to inform effective disease control and prevention strategies. This study aims to identify the genus of adult mosquitoes based on the collection time (day and night) and collection location (indoors and outdoors) and to analyze the distribution patterns of adult mosquitoes by genus in Kelurahan Madidir Unet, Kota Bitung. This research uses a descriptive survey approach, with sweeping techniques as the mosquito collection method, using nets and aspirators. Adult mosquitoes were caught in Lingkungan I-IV, both indoors and outdoors, during both daytime and nighttime. This research identified a total of 111 adult mosquitoes, comprising 55 from the Aedes spp. (49.55%) and 56 from the Culex spp. (50.45%), with no Anopheles spp. found. Female mosquitoes were more prevalent than males. During daytime collections, Aedes spp. was the most commonly caught genus, whereas Culex spp. dominated nighttime collections. Both Aedes spp. and Culex spp. were predominantly captured outdoors. Keywords: Adult mosquitoes, genus, vector
