Microgrid Physical Model Monitoring System

Microgrids are an important field of power industry development both in Russia and abroad. There are problems in choosing the optimal structure and operation parameters of these grids. Field experiments with a real power system involve certain risks due to high time and financial costs as well as the reliability and safety of its equipment. Therefore, mathematical or physical models of a microgrid are normally used for investigations. A physical model allows one to resolve a number of important problems: analyzing the grid structure, studying its key properties (such as survivability, reliability, regulation of demand and supply of energy resources, and use of renewable energy sources), and determining optimal operating modes. This paper considers a microgrid physical model monitoring system—an imitation stand simulating a grid with a high share of renewable energy sources.
