Supply Chain Duty of Care
Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive And The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act Duty Of Care are regulations that impose responsibilities on companies to prevent and address human rights and environmental violations in their supply chains. In these regulations, employee rights have an important place within the scope of duties of care, and International Labor Organization agreements are especially great importance. In both regulations, duties of care include processes for companies to assess, prevent and compensate for their impacts on human rights and the environment. Care Obligations in the German Supply Chain Duty of Care Act , which came into force in Germany on January 1, 2023, is a law that holds German companies responsible for human rights and environmental violations in their supply chains. Care Obligations and International Labor Organisation Conventions in German Law Both regulations require compliance with the International Labor Organisation's basic principles in the supply chain. Companies are responsible for checking that all stakeholders in the supply chain comply with these agreements and taking the necessary measures to ensure compliance. These obligations cover not only the company's direct activities, but also its suppliers and other indirectly related business partners. In this study, the literature review method was used. In the first part of my study, the duty of care will be discussed, then the international agreements to which Türkiye is a party regarding human rights and labor law, which will also be sought in Turkish supplier companies within the scope of this duty, will be explained.
