Kidney Histopathological Changes of Mice Caused by Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus aureus DNA

Background: Multiple of infectious illnesses can be ascribed to Staphylococcus aureus which is an important clinical pathogen. It is considered to be the world’s momentous opportunistic bacteria, has the capability to evade immune system and result in numerous infections. Objective: Based on the dissemination of MRSA isolates in comparison to the trace foundation of MSSA strains, the principal point of this research is the determination of the MSSA DNA ability to affect the kidney tissue of mice and cause any histopathological changes. Methodology: Five MSSA isolates were obtained from Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Baghdad, Baghdad, Iraq, where they were previously diagnosed as MSSA isolates by biochemical tests and Vitek-2 system. They were subjected to antibiotics Aztreonam, Ceftazidime, Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, Ceftriaxone, Meropenem and Imipenem by applying the method of disc diffusion of Kirby‑Bauer. The most resistant isolate was chosen to be used for DNA extraction, injection and histopathological studies. Results: Results revealed various levels of susceptibilities to different antibiotics among isolates. Staphylococcal DNA caused histopathological changes of the renal cortex and there was a mild inter tubular vascular congestion, glomerular congestion with little focal hemorrhage, in addition to a normal appearance of the lining cells of the renal tubules. Conclusion: As a conclusion, MSSA DNA can affect kidney tissue of mice and can resulted in histopathological changes in a concentration depending manner, which means that at high DNA concentrations may resulted in immunological disorder that may reach to kidney failure.
