CONCEPT AND DESCRIPTION OF THE “DENTAL SYNDROME” OF CONNECTIVE TISSUE DYSPLASIA
The aim is to conceptualize and describe the “dental syndrome” of connective tissue dysplasia. Materials and Methods. The study included 327 women who were divided into two groups (with connective tissue dysplasia, without connective tissue dysplasia) and five age subgroups (14-17 years, 18-21 years, 22-26 years, 27-31 years, 32-36 years). All participants were diagnosed with connective tissue dysplasia, morphometric, clinical, radiologic, microscopic, biochemical and morphologic studies of organs and tissues of the maxillofacial region, assessment of fluoride-ion levels of oral fluid, and the results of which were used to identify the main symptoms of the “dental syndrome” of connective tissue dysplasia. Results. “Dental syndrome” of connective tissue dysplasia is characterized by predominance of jaw changes over dental changes, peculiarities of mandibular morphology, variability of the lateral segment of the mandible over the anterior and middle and as a result of predominance of cancellous bone over compact bone in the mandible, reduction in the number and diameter of haversian canals, vessels, high frequency of retention and eruption disorders of the lower third molars. On the background of systemic dysplastic process together with dental signs under the influence of various factors of external and internal environment there are associated with connective tissue dysplasia pathologic conditions in organs and tissues of the mouth, which lead to violation of eruption of lower third molars. Conclusions. Disturbance of metabolic processes in hard and soft tissues of oral organs and tissues in connective tissue dysplasia should be taken into account in dental practice when planning treatment, diagnostic manipulations, and prognosis.
