MOTIVATION OF STUDENTS OF MEDICAL AND BIOLOGICAL SPECIALTIES IN THE REGIONS OF THE CHERNOZEM REGION TO BE TESTED FOR SEXUALLY-TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS

The study of the level, factors of formation and ways to increase the motivation of young people to undergo testing for sexually transmitted infections is relevant due to the high prevalence of their asymptomatic course. The conducted study was a survey of 1140 students of medical, pharmaceutical and biological specialties of the regions of theChernozem Region. The level of motivation in subgroups by gender and level of education is presented in the form of extensive indicators with confidence intervals, the factorial determination of readiness to undergo examinations was estimated by the relative risk (RR) indicator. Among students of medical and biological specialties, the level of motivation for screening examinations for STIs is significantly higher among females than males (82.8±2.5% versus 72.1±4.9%, p≤0.01). Differences between subgroups by level of education are statistically insignificant: for universities, the indicator was 82.5±2.9%, for secondary vocational education - 78.2±3.5% (p>0.05). Responsibility for the health of offspring is a significant motivating factor - a high demand for diagnostic tests in preparation for conception was revealed. The educational activities have proven the need for medical lectures and consultations, supplemented by demonstration of video materials and presentations, and targeted campaigns on STI screening among young people. A significant systemic deficiency of Internet projects of medical organizations has been identified - their insignificant role in motivating people to undergo STI screening.
