DETAIL STUDY OF E-BANKING AND ITS RISK
The evolution of e-banking has revolutionized the way financial institutions and customers interact, offering convenience, speed, and 24/7 access to banking services. This study presents a comprehensive and detailed exploration of the e-banking ecosystem, with a specific focus on its associated risks, technological frameworks, and mitigation strategies. E-banking encompasses internet banking, mobile banking, ATM services, electronic funds transfer, and digital wallets, all of which have become integral to modern financial behavior. This research aims to dissect the architecture of e-banking platforms and examine the underlying technologies—including blockchain, biometric authentication, machine learning-based fraud detection, and cloud infrastructure—that power secure transactions. However, with the rise in digital transformation, there has also been a parallel escalation in cyber threats such as phishing, identity theft, malware attacks, and data breaches. The study systematically classifies these risks into operational, transactional, legal, reputational, and technological categories, drawing on real-world case studies from global banks such as SBI, ICICI, Wells Fargo, and HSBC. Through a mixed-methods research approach involving both qualitative case studies and quantitative analysis of threat incidence data, the study investigates how e-banking risks vary across demographics, usage behavior, and institutional preparedness. It also examines the role of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) in enhancing real-time fraud detection, anomaly recognition, and cybersecurity resilience. Advanced ML techniques such as Random Forest, Isolation Forest, and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) are explored for their role in minimizing false positives and improving the accuracy of security alerts. The study emphasizes the importance of regulatory compliance and user education in minimizing e-banking vulnerabilities, along with the adoption of zero-trust architectures, AI-driven threat intelligence, and two-factor/multifactor authentication (2FA/MFA). The conclusion advocates for a robust framework that integrates technological safeguards, institutional policy, and user responsibility, ensuring that the future of e-banking is both innovative and secure. Ultimately, this detailed investigation aims to bridge the gap between digital innovation and risk management, offering strategic insights to banks, fintech companies, policymakers, and end-users for developing resilient, secure, and scalable e-banking solutions in an increasingly digitized world
