FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE BENCHMARKING

This study investigates the evolution of Financial Performance Benchmarking through the integration of Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and specialized software solutions. Traditionally, benchmarking relies on static financial ratios and industry averages, which often fail to capture dynamic market conditions, complex interdependencies, and the nuanced performance of diverse entities. This research aims to demonstrate how AI-driven techniques provide more sophisticated and actionable insights for financial performance comparison and improvement. We will explore the application of ML algorithms for identifying optimal peer groups, conducting granular performance comparisons, and predicting future financial trajectories. Specifically, clustering algorithms (e.g., K-Means, Hierarchical Clustering) will be utilized to form dynamic and relevant peer groups based on multidimensional financial and operational attributes. Regression-based ML models (e.g., Random Forest, XGBoost) will be employed to identify key drivers of superior or inferior financial performance within and across these peer groups. Furthermore, Deep Learning models, particularly Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, will be leveraged for time-series forecasting of financial metrics, enabling forwardlooking benchmarking and early detection of performance deviations. The role of specialized financial analytics software and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in automating data collection, aggregation, and report generation for benchmarking will also be examined. Through a comprehensive methodology, including data acquisition from financial reports and market data providers, advanced pre-processing, model development, and rigorous evaluation, this study seeks to illustrate how AI and software solutions enhance the precision, predictive power, and strategic utility of financial performance benchmarking, enabling organizations to make more informed decisions and gain a sustainable competitive advantage in dynamic markets.
