THE RELATIONSHIP OF IDENTITY CHARACTERISTICS WITH SIGNS OF DEPRESSION OF YOUNG PEOPLE
The relevance of the study is determined by the need to understand the mechanism of the relationship between identity and signs of depression of young people. Thanks to this, it will be possible to develop effective coping strategies for environmentally friendly human handling of these features. In this case, the risk of depression will not be too high. The study involved 87 people aged 18 to 35 years. The following methods were used: “Personality Identity Questionnaire”, “Personality Identity Styles Questionnaire”, “Depression Questionnaire”, “Four-dimensional questionnaire for assessing distress, depression, anxiety and somatization”. The results showed that there are significant links between depression and such identity characteristics as commitment making, obsessive search, identification with commitment, commitment, and diffuse avoidance style. The more severe a person's depressive symptoms are, the less they are able to commit themselves and the more pronounced the diffuse-avoidant identity style is. EDN: BTTCFO
