Behavior of Positive Even Degree Polynomial Functions
This study examines the behavior of positive even-degree polynomial functions by focusing on their graphical characteristics. By analyzing five specific polynomial examples, we explore how the influence of their degrees and leading coefficients on the shape of the graphs, end behavior, and turning points. GeoGebra graphing tools demonstrate these aspects and highlight the importance of standard and factored forms in understanding the x-and-y-intercepts of functions. This study aims to clearly understand how the degree and leading coefficient of polynomial functions determine their overall behavior, including their symmetry and the direction of their ends. By understanding the behavior of polynomial graphs, we can predict their shapes and appearances, which is helpful for various mathematical applications.
