THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INFORMATION NEED, RESILIENCE, AND PERSONALITY ANXIETY

This article presents the results of an empirical study examining the interrelationships among information need, resilience, and trait anxiety. The sample comprised 70 individuals (33 men, 37 women; aged 18–35 years, μ=26.8). It was found that an active need to obtain and discuss news is positively associated with curiosity and situational interest, and intensifies under moderate everyday stressors (competition, plan disruptions, physical discomfort or loneliness), serving as an emotional‐cognitive coping strategy. A positive relationship was also observed between the need to discuss news and both self-efficacy and trait anxiety. EDN: RCWHPP
