Redesigning Reading Activities and Assignments in English Courses in the Age of AI

This study was aimed to redesign reading activities and assignments in English courses in the age of AI by dealing with concerns when students use AI tools in their assignments, namely, cheating opportunity, mistake or hallucination, poor critical thinking and lack of collaborative learning. Then, it examined the students’ satisfaction towards the redesigned reading activities and assignments. The students in this study were from 2 English courses for engineering and veterinary medicine from a private university in Thailand. The findings showed that the redesigned reading activities and assignments promoted discussion both inside and outside classrooms because this learning approach helped them critique the AI output through critical reflection and discussion.
