Performance Analysis on a Four Level Interleaved SEPIC Converter used for Renewable based Battery Charging Applications
A four level interleaved DC-DC Converter which is utilized for renewable energy applications is considered in the paper. Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter (SEPIC) with multiple levels implemented is designed which can be utilized with buck or boost mode of operation. A modified SEPIC Converter which is interleaved is presented in this paper, the output of the converter is coupled with voltage multiplier stages which helps in enhancing the output voltage in all the modes of operation. The paper focuses on the boost mode operation of the proposed SEPIC Converter. The interleaved configurations will tend to reduce voltage stresses' on the converter components. The designed circuit and its operations are streamlined to be in renewable energy battery charging applications to utilize renewable system output for applications requiring buck or boost mode of operation. The implemented model is analyzed considering the critical dynamic parameters and the Voltage gain of the four level interleaved system with voltage multiplier is compared with the conventional Interleaved SEPIC converter. The voltage gain and the efficiency of the four level interleaved converter with voltage multiplier circuit was found to be superior to the conventional converter with implemented multi-level configurations. The output ripples and voltage stresses on the multi-level configuration was found to be reduced. A voltage gain of 5.9 was found in the four level interleaved converter with voltage multiplier configuration.
